walk in obedience

every thursday we have atl (ask the Lord). we go into villages and ask the Lord where he wants us to go. before we went out on thursday i asked the Lord to give me a vision of where he wanted me to go or what he wanted me to see.

i got the vision of stairs, a baby crying, & a heart-shaped cloud. i didn’t really know what the heart-shaped cloud would mean but i trusted that God gave me the vision for a purpose.

aimee, ben, kourtney and i went out. we walked along the road and came upon some stairs that led to a church but the church was closed so we kept walking, and as we were walking, ben heard a baby crying. we followed the sound of the baby, which led to some more stairs. we went up the stairs and saw a woman holding her little girl who had been crying.

we began to ask the woman how she was and she said she was feeling a lot of sadness because her husband had passed away, and her dad who was living with her was depressed. she felt like she couldn’t cry because she had to be strong for her kids. then kourtney began to tell her that the shortest verse in the bible was “Jesus wept.” we told her that Jesus weeps when she weeps and that it’s okay to cry. she began to talk more as tears ran down her cheeks.

a little later in the conversation with her, her dad came home. he walked in and you could feel the heaviness he was feeling. he kept looking down and we asked if there was anything he needed prayer for. he said to pray for health and protection for his family.

we began to pray and his whole demeanor changed. he had a smile on his face. he wouldn’t stop saying “thank you” and “i am so grateful you came.” the woman said “the Lord sent you here and you weren’t wrong to come”and she asked her dad, “God sent them here, do you believe it?” he said, “yes, i believe it.”

that was a huge confirmation from the Lord that i do hear his voice so clearly and he gives me visions for a purpose. that woman had been going through something really hard and she just needed someone to stop by her house and remind her that it’s okay to be sad and the Lord is with her in the pain, bringing comfort and peace.

i still didn’t understand the whole heart-shaped cloud thing but after we left the lady’s house, kourtney, aimee, ben and i talked under some pretty clouds and clear skies and my heart felt so full. i am here to tell you that if the Lord speaks to you, don’t dismiss his voice. he is a kind Father who just wants his children to be obedient.

so if God tells you to go find stairs, a baby crying and a heart-shaped cloud, just go for it. i promise that it will be so worth it. and even if he gives you a vision and you don’t see it, he could be teaching you something in that. be silent; listen & obey his still, small voice.

love you a lot,
