q&a time!!!
is this a specific ministry? and if so, how did you feel called to reach out to this specifically?
GREAT question!
yes, it is! the ministry is called adventures in missions. They are located in Gainesville, Ga. They send hundreds of missionaries out per year to grow with God, serve others and make a difference for the Kingdom.
i first heard about the world race through one of my friends who is going as well. i felt called to missions in 2018 when i went to the dominican republic on a missions trip. i’ve always wanted to do something different than go to college right after. i have always had a heart to serve people and I’m so thankful the Lord led me to this amazing opportunity. God placed it on my heart and he has been pushing me out of my comfort zone ever since.
what are you most excited for?
this is a hard one, I am excited for it all honestly!
i am excited to grow in a community who has the same heart for the Lord and serving. To form lifelong relationships with my squad mates and encourage each other to grow in the Lord. I’m excited to be the hands and feet of Jesus. To play with the precious kids and see their beautiful smiles. To place my hand on a woman and pray for her, reminding her that Jesus loves her dearly. And so much more!
is corona affecting any part of this?
well, we were supposed to have training camp in July and then come home for a month and then go back and launch in September. but training camp got moved to September so we will be going to GA for training camp in September for 12 days and then we will leave for the mission field directly after camp. so not many changes have been made, thankfully. please be praying that the Lord would make a way for us to still be able to go in September, i am hopeful! i know that God is good and he always keeps his promises.
how are you seeing God’s faithfulness to you through preparing for wr?
i love this question. woah, God has been so good to me. i am supposed to raise $15,800 to go as most of you know and I had a deadline to raise $5,000 by July and I am already almost at $7,000. i am so in awe of God’s faithfulness in placing generous people in my life to donate. God has been changing a lot of things in my life recently which has been hard. but it’s all preparing me for what he has prepared for me. i am so very excited for what the Lord has in store. he is faithful through every season.
what are you most looking forward to with wr?
i am looking forward to growing closer in my relationship with the Lord and learning more about him. i am looking forward to all the things he is going to reveal to me on this trip.
how have you been?
i have been good! although this is a time of a lot of uncertainty, i am super hopeful for what God has in store. i know that his plans are always good and he won’t give us more than what we can handle. everything has slowed down and life isn’t as busy so it has been a good time for me to rest in his presence.
what are you fearful of?
hmm a lot of people ask me if i’m nervous leaving everything behind for 9 months. i usually say no because it’s the easy answer. but I am actually pretty nervous about leaving my family and friends for that long because what if something happens to one of them while i’m gone? i know i shouldn’t fear though. in the bible God says 365 times “not to be afraid” because he is with me and will guard his guardian angels around me. he is my protector, i trust in him to lead my life.
thank you all for taking the time out of your day to read my blogs! it means the world to me. if you feel called to donate you can still do so through this blog or you can send me a check or venmo me @lydiaallenn. may God bless each one of you and keep you safe!
“and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus”
